Late night Sour Lake shooting sends one to the hospital
An alcohol-fueled argument among campers sent one man to the hospital and another to the county jail.
Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies and Sour Lake Police Officers were called to 27385 Hwy 105 W., Sour Lake, at 10:15 pm, on July 1.
Investigators found several camp trailers pulled onto private property where a late night fight resulted in one man getting shot, according to Sheriff Mark Davis.
“The suspect is a 36-year-old male from Groves,” he said, “who is charged with Felony One aggravated assault with a weapon.”
Pending arraignment the suspect’s name and mugshot will be released.
Sheriff deputies say a disagreement among two men escalated into a physical altercation in which one man produced a .22 caliber pistol.
“In the struggle over the firearm, the gun went off striking the victim in the jaw,” Davis said.
The victim was transported by life-flight to a Beaumont hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is identified as a 35-year-old man from Batson.
