Sheriff Mark Davis of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the officer injured in the June 20 Sour Lake shooting incident.
Deputy Tom Lee was released from the hospital on Monday and is recovering from his injury, the sheriff said.
Despite his release, he will require out-patient treatment in the future, according to the sheriff.
Lee is a longtime deputy with Hardin County joining the force in 2014 and has since transferred to Mental Health Division of the sheriff’s department.
In March 2019, Lee joined the mental health program as a liaison officer with Spindletop Center along with other law enforcement agencies.
Spindletop collaborates with law enforcement in their day-to-day interactions with persons suffering from persistent mental illness.

Also released on Monday, Taylor Shackelford, the suspect in the shooting, who has been transferred to the Hardin County Jail.
