At approximately 4:31 p.m. this afternoon the Hardin County S.O. received a report of smoke on a school bus.
The bus driver was doing a routine dropoff with about 23 children left on the bus,” Lumberton Fire Chief Jeff McNeel said.
He noticed there was smoke on the bus, and commenced emergency procedures.
“He pulled over and immediately started evacuating the children from the bus,” he said.
No one was hurt doing this procedure. The Fire Department responded straightaway.
“At this point, we are looking to the cause of that, but the students were relocated to another bus and transported home without incident,” the chief said.
