The annual Big Thicket Day will be on Oct. 13 with celebrations taking place at the Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor Center, 6102 FM 420, in Kountze.
Hosted by the Big Thicket Association and the National Park Service the Saturday, Oct. 13 festivities will run from 10 am to 2 pm.
This a free event open to the public with activities for the entire family, including kid fun, information booths from area conservation groups, a ranger-led hike in the Big Thicket, book signings, and guest speakers.
Rick Lewandowski, Director of Shangri La Botanical Gardens, in Orange, will be the keynote speaker this year.
Entertainment by Ray Ward and Sheryl Brocato will offer a variety of country and bluegrass music for the day. Also, Jack and Annie Spurgin, the Fort Worth Buckaroos, will perform traditional Texas Heritage Music.
