House fire destroys north Silsbee home
October 4, 2018

Multiple fire agencies responded to a single-family home engulfed in lames on Wednesday afternoon just after noon.
Firefighters from Silsbee, Kountze, and Lumberton answered the alarm to a location north of FM 418, north of Silsbee.
Two people in the home at the time of the fire were able to escape without injury. However, the dwelling was a complete loss in the blaze.
Caregiver Melissa Shipman had just returned with homeowner Mary Phillips, 84, to the structure on Circle C Drive when the fire erupted.
Shipman told a local news outlet that she barely had time to gather the elderly woman who uses a walker to get the pair to safety.
It was fate that Shipman was there to help as she says she usually leaves the Phillips home before noon.
