The 3rd Annual “Back the Badge” Luncheon is coming up on July 18. The event will be held at the Lumberton ISD Performing Arts Center 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This is an annual event hosted by the Hardin County Angels of Care (HCAC) honoring and serving free lunches to law enforcement agencies to include police and sheriffs’ departments, firefighters, EMS, Texas Rangers, judges, and more.
The Hardin Angels of Care is a volunteer-run organization that assists families with children who have medical needs.
Faye Alston, with the HCAC, is one of the organizers of the event.
There will be some special guests participating and Alston says Vanessa Holmes-Broussard is planning to attend and speak at the luncheon if her schedule allows.
Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins will be welcoming everyone to the event. “He is such a great role model, “says Alston.
The public is welcome to attend and may purchase a lunch for $10. Portions of the proceeds collected from this event will benefit local police associations and Hardin County Angels of Care.
Alston says, “That is my goal to make sure they know how much we appreciate them now and if it wasn’t for all these people who take care of us on a daily basis, I’d be scared to walk out my front door.”
They are asking for dessert donations which should be dropped off by 9 a.m. that day and they will accept donations by check.
Alston mentioned some sponsors including Chicken Express and Wal-Mart. “It’s amazing the love that all the communities give. We’re so blessed to have all the help we get,” she said.
Lynette Barks with HCAC is also an organizer of this special luncheon. Alston says of Barks, “My biggest hero is Lynette Barks. This is the one person I don’t think
