Michael and Ashley Wirfs pledged to purchase 20 bicycles to donate to the Lumberton Police Department, and they delivered the 20 bikes on Friday, May 18.
The bicycles will go to local children who the officers determine are be in need or if their bikes have been stolen.
The Wirfs along with their young son, and Police Chief Danny Sullins, unloaded the bikes from a trailer and brought them into the police department.
Ashley says they have already had others offer to donate bicycles to donate again next year. So far, they are up to 100 bikes.
“That’s the last thing people are thinking of if they are trying to rebuild their homes,” she said about donating bicycles to families affected by Harvey.
