The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a crash involving a motorcycle around 3 p.m. on May 12.
The wreck is reported to have happened approximately three miles south of Silsbee. DPS reports that a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on US 96, traveled off the roadway, then in an effort to get the motorcycle back on the road, the driver overcorrected. The driver and passenger fell off the motorcycle.
The driver was identified as Bobbie Leigh Jackson, 30 years old of DeRidder, LA. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries and did not survive, according to the DPS news release.
The 52-year-old female passenger was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. The DPS does not have updated information regarding the condition of the passenger.
DPS reports the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets. The crash remains under investigation by the DPS.
