Crawfishin’ has received a warm welcome from Hardin County. The three owners started out selling crawfish out of their catering truck last year and were so successful, they decided to open a restaurant dedicated to offering outstanding crawfish in a fun atmosphere.
The owners are brothers Jay and Jeff Gerdes, and Kody Wada. They officially opened the restaurant on March 7. In addition to crawfish, they serve boiled shrimp and snow crab, plus a kids menu.
“It’s been pretty consistent. People seem to like the food and the environment,” said Jay.
The owners say they see a lot of regulars, sometimes four times a week. Word-of-mouth from these loyal customers helps bring in more business. Customer service is key, the owners say. Jeff makes an effort to speak to as many customers as possible. They are open to customer feedback and suggestions.
“The reception is great. The people in Lumberton have been awesome,” said Jeff.
As the business grows, they plan to expand the menu.
For now, the restaurant will stay open year-round, not just during crawfish season.
The goal is to make Crawfishin’ a family-friendly hangout with excellent food. “We’d rather be great at a few things, than average at a lot of things,” said Jeff.
