Earlier during the day on Thursday, March 22, the Hardin County Sheriff's Office was investigating an incident in which a man was shot in the arm in Saratoga. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The investigation continued and the HCSO discovered there was conflicting information regarding the incident.
HCSO Sheriff Mark Davis stated, "Our agency has discovered the incident did not happen as reported. Based upon scientific and physical evidence from the scene and hospital as well as interviews conducted thus far, we conclude that the victim’s report is false. We have located the “suspect” as described by the victim, and he is not and was not in Hardin County at the time of the shooting. Our agency is continuing to investigate and we have not ruled out the possibility of charges for making a false report.”
