Precinct 16 Chairman Kenny Sims said one morning the Lord put it on his heart to have a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway for flood victims. With that inspiration, he ordered more than 200 frozen turkeys.
Tim James, owner of Catfish Cabin, has generously offered to store the turkeys in the restaurant’s freezer until it is time for distribution.
The turkeys will be given away on Saturday, November 18 at the fire station on Keith Road beginning at 11 a.m. “It will be first come, first serve,” said Sims. They will distribute the turkeys until they run out.
They will give a turkey to any flood victim and he states that they are using the honor system and trusting that only those who actually flooded will try to participate.
“It’s neighbor helping neighbor,” said Sims of his plan to give out the turkeys.
