MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) honors law enforcement officers each year for their efforts in stopping drunk driving. On Thursday, October 5, they held a celebration to show appreciation to these officers and present them with awards and a gift.
Among several other law enforcement officers, two of Lumberton’s finest were recognized; Sergeant Cody Davis and Officer Kenneth Aydelotte.
Officer Aydelotte has won before and said of the recognition, “We’re all very appreciative. We take pride in our work. It’s good to get some recognition every now and then. We enjoy the community support.”
Sergeant Davis was honored to receive the award and stated, “I’ve won it before and each time it’s an honor. It means a lot to know that the hard work doesn’t go unrecognized and to know we’re getting drunks off the road is extremely satisfying,” said Davis.
Beaumont ER donated a body armor air conditioning unit for each recipient. The units plug into their vehicles and are used under their vests to help cool them off.
