As many people recognize, September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Lumberton High School senior Megan Munoz, former student Lauren Munoz, and cheerleaders Hannah and Hailey Alexander, have a three-year- old brother, Bryce Alexander, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia this past June. Lumberton cheerleaders wore “Kicking Leukemia with Bryce” shirts at the home game on Tuesday, September 26th, to honor this incredibly strong and loving little boy.
With help from the energy in the stands and cheers from the fans, the Raiders scored a touchdown within the first two minutes of the game. By the time the Mighty Raider Band marched on the field for halftime, the score was up to 35-9. “The investment that these boys are putting in is paying off,” said Athletic Director and Football Coach Chris Babin. By the end of the game, the L-Train had rolled over the Livingston Lions with an end score of 49-9. Come out and support your Raiders as they take on the Titans at Memorial High School in Port Arthur at 7 pm on Saturday, October 7th.
A benefit account for Bryce Alexander has been set up at Neches Federal Credit Union. If you are interested in donating, the name for the account is “Benefit for Bryce Alexander” and donations are greatly appreciated and accepted at any Neches location.
