Man arrested in Hardin County courthouse/jail parking lot

July 4, 2017

Hardin County Sheriff’s sergeants made an arrest in the parking lot of the Hardin County Courthouse; steps away from the county jail.

Around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, a man parked his vehicle in the parking lot allegedly with the purpose of obtaining registration for his vehicle.  The suspect was spotted by a deputy and is known by law enforcement as a “frequent flyer”.

Deputies made contact with the suspect and confirmed with dispatch that he was wanted for warrants out of another county.  The suspect was arrested for those warrants in the parking lot and walked into the Hardin County Jail.

HCSO Narcotics Division Sergeants Jesse Orr and Mark Vincent arrived on the scene and were granted permission by the suspect to search the vehicle.  According to the report, as a result of the search, officers found over 10 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

HCSO says that while in custody at the jail, the suspect was read his Miranda rights and he agreed to an interview with law enforcement.  It is reported that he confessed to the ownership of the methamphetamine located in the vehicle during the search and also confessed to a burglary of the North Hardin County Water Corporation which was an open case.

The suspect was identified as Ivy Gene Donaghue, 34 of Silsbee.

A news release issued from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office states that a burglary of the North Hardin Water Corporation, located north of Silsbee, occurred on April 26. Suspects took property from inside the building and caused damage with a total loss estimated at around $5,000.  Two arrests have been made, including Donaghue, and a third person is wanted in connection with the burglary.

The charges are Burglary of Building and Man/Del of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 along with four warrants from the State of Louisiana.  According to the news release from HCSO, Donaghue is currently in jail and his bond has been denied by the District Court.

The other suspect in the burglary has been identified as Misty Lynn Davis, 35 of Silsbee.  She was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and was released after posting a $750 bond.
