The Hardin County Rotary Club held its annual banquet and awards ceremony. Rotary and some Interact (Rotary youth club) members gathered together at the Lumberton Fire Department for the event.
Sandra Womack, Executive Director of the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, was officially recognized as the incoming Rotary president. Her duties as president begin on July 6.
Several awards were presented to members including the Committee Queen award given to Beth Kirk, Service Above Self award went to Bradley Jackson of Altus Emergency Center, Iron Man Meritorious Service Award was presented to Wade Maclean, JJ Elizondo was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow certificate, and Bobbie Peckham received the Rotarian of the Year award.
The Interact president, Bryce Coble, was awarded Interact Person of the Year and received $250 from the Rotary Club. “He’s a really good kid and he’s got the club going and off the ground,” said 2016/2017 Rotary Club president Paul Griffin.
The club has been holding many of their meetings at the Lumberton Fire Department and they are grateful to the department and Fire Chief Jeff McNeel for their generosity. As a gesture of their appreciation, they presented the department with a check for $500.
