UPDATE from HCSO: "As our investigation continues into the escape of inmate Donavin Cantwell, we have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with his flight from custody. Kala Renay Kinsey, 31, of Kountze, has been charged with the felony offense of Facilitating Escape. Her bond has been set at $25,000 and she is currently in jail. She is accused of knowingly providing support and transportation to Cantrell, when she knew him to be an escaped inmate."
Around 5 a.m. Thursday morning, Donavin Michael Cantwell, 28 years old, is reported to have escaped from the Hardin County Jail.
Hardin County Sheriff Mark Davis issued a news release stating that Cantwell was in jail charged with felony offenses of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Detention, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. HCSO describes him as 5' 11" and weighing 160 pounds with very short brown hair, blue eyes, and a heavy short beard.
HCSO describes the incident this morning stating that the inmate was able to get past guards and exit the jail during the morning feeding. Video surveillance captured the event and jail staff responded. The release continues to state that the inmate traveled on foot to a nearby home and was provided assistance by another person. It is reported that the two people left the Kountze area by vehicle. The white female accomplice and the vehicle have been located in Tyler County and Cantwell has not been located at this time.
HCSO requests the public's assistance in locating the escapee. "We ask for the public’s help in locating Cantwell. If you have any information as to his whereabouts, please contact the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement agency."
