County Commissioners Hold Regular Meeting

March 20, 2017

The Hardin County Commissioners Court held its regular meeting on Monday, March 13.  The Court quickly went though and approved their regular agenda items.

Resolution 12-17 was up for adoption by the Court.  The Resolution recognizes March 13, 2017 as the Gift of Life Youth Anti-Tobacco day, observing the national “Kick Butts Day”.  Connie Berry, Community Relations Coordinator with the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program was in attendance and said that there is a council of high school students from about 19 area high schools who have been doing activities to bring attention to the harmful effects of tobacco.  The Court unanimously approved the adoption of the Resolution.

Next on the agenda was a request by Hardin County Attorney Rebecca Walton for the Court to adopt Resolution 13-17.  This Resolution gives approval to the County Attorney’s Office to become a recognized active agency with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

Walton also requested that the Court give approval to amend the County Attorney Pre-Trial Diversion budget to accommodate expenses for a newly created part-time position for a Pre-Trial Diversion Program Coordinator.  The request was approved.

Dana Hogg, District Clerk, requested permission to accept online payments through Certified Payments. County Judge Wayne McDaniel mentioned that there are other offices currently using that system. The motion passed unanimously.

The agenda included some requests for soliciting and rewarding bids for some overlay projects.  Precinct 2 Commissioner Chris Kirkendall requested permission to solicit bids for an overlay project on Twin Bridges Road.  The motion passed unanimously.

Purchasing Agent, Misty Sims, presented information regarding the results and awarding of bids for overlay projects on Gore Store Road and Cooks Lake Road. She also requested permission to resolicit bids through Rene Bates Online Auction for the sale of surplus equipment.  Both motions were passed unanimously.

The final item on the agenda was a presentation by Sims regarding bids received for installation of On-Site Sewer Facilities that pertain to the Hardin County Community Development Grant 7215199.  There were five bid packages brought up along with the bids that they requested to be awarded to each. The motion was passed unanimously.
