We fly-over-folk find little more endearing than super rich Hollywood types dressed in expensive attire telling us all how we should think and feel.
Hey, let’s face it. I too feel nudged to do more. So I watched some (very little) of the Oscars last night.
What better example is there of progressive ideals could there possibly be than an actress wearing a $50,000 Karl Lagerfeld gown (who just made $20 million on her latest role) urging us to “give up our guns?”
Or how about being lectured by a foreign movie director you’ve never heard of about, who refused to even lower himself to enter into the USA to accept an award by the privileged for the privileged?
After all, who better to tell us what we can and cannot do as citizens… than a citizen of the verified number one State sponsor of terrorism worldwide?
As reported in the Washington Post, “Ashgar Farhadi won his second Oscar, but he decided not to attend tonight’s ceremony after President Trump signed an executive order barring visa-holders from Iran and six other countries to enter the United States.”
“In his place, Farhadi sent two prominent Iranian-Americans in his place to the ceremony: Anousheh Ansari, the first female private space traveler, and Firouz Naderi, a former director at NASA.”
(Because we should listen to “rocket scientists!”)
So as I listened to Ms. Naderi convey the pensive thoughts of Mr. Farhadi, (mind you while launch a verbal barrage directly back at the TV myself) I was fed the following:
“I’m sorry I’m not with you tonight. My absence is out of respect for the people of my country and those of other six nations whom have been disrespected by the inhumane law that bans entry of immigrants to the U.S. Dividing the world into the ‘us’ and ‘our enemies’ categories creates fear. A deceitful justification for aggression and war. These wars prevent democracy and human rights in countries which have themselves been victims of aggression. Filmmakers can turn their cameras to capture shared human qualities and break stereotypes of various nationalities and religions. They create empathy between us and others. An empathy which we need today more than ever. Thank you on behalf of Mr. Farhadi.”
So the latest we’re supposed to take away from The Academy Awards is this. Donald Trump is evil. If you support Donald Trump you are evil as well.
To recap, a nothing director from Iran, (the number one state sponsor-financier of terrorism worldwide… a country that stones adulterers and throws homosexuals off of buildings), receives a MEANINGLESS award from a MEANINGLESS academy and our breathless media gives a platform to someone with ZERO moral authority to claim “outrage” over “human rights.”
Did I forget to mention the Hollywood stars in attendance gave a resounding, standing ovation?
Iran, the Academy and the Establishment Media... The true un-American, anti-freedom, axis of evil.
