Family, friends, and the community have worked together to host two fundraising benefits for Kristy Adams; the mother of two boys who is currently fighting cancer. The first event was hosted at HonkyTonk Texas in Silsbee. Activities included washer and pool tournaments, auction, barbecue, and live music. David Roggenkamp, Kristy’s father, expressed gratitude saying, “We’ve got a lot of good people helping.” Amy Graves, who was instrumental in organizing that event, said $5,000 was raised that day.
The second fundraiser took place at Lumberton Performing Arts Center on September 24. The all-day concert had performances by renowned Elvis tribute artist Jeff Rainey, country artist Jerry Stanley, Taylor Jacks, and Relent. Jeff Rainey not only performed, he donated sound equipment for use during the concert and operated the sound for the other artists. In addition to the live music, there was an auction with several donated items valued up to $700 and food from the Jamaican Cajun food truck. Kayla Graffignino helped organize the event and said they were able to raise over $2,500 for Kristy and her boys.
