With many teams within 22-5A playing on turf, Lumberton Independent School District has now evened the playing field for their Raiders. After a much anticipated makeover, Raider Stadium has gotten a facelift and there aren’t many happier than head Football Coach Chris Babin and his team. The field will be ready for the first non-district game at home against Porter and Coach Babin told us that they are “fired up about the new field”.
When discussing the new field with Senior Keaton Upshaw at Strong Safety he feels that “it’s going to be a motivator for us, the guys are looking forward to playing on it. It’s something we’ve always wanted to play on at home, and it’s a pride booster as well. It’s very appreciated”. Upshaw continues on to say the he believes as they begin to play on turf fields, they will begin to get more comfortable against their opposition and ultimately more competitive.
The first game on the renovated field will be Friday, August 26 at 7:30pm.
